REFINING
Phosphorus is never found individually in nature, but extracted from different minerals (mainly Phosphate Rock but including apatite, turquoise, phosphophyllite, fluorapatite, and vivianite). Large producers in the United States include the states of Tennessee, Nebraska, Idaho, Florida and Utah. Nebraskan soils contain around 4,700 pounds of phosphate per acre.
